Artist	Callahan, Kenneth, 1905-1986
Title	Landscape - hills and water
Description	An oil painting of a landscape emphasizing rolling hills and a serene blue swath of water. Evokes a feeling of sunny tranquility.
Biographical Notes	Kenneth Callahan was born in Spokane, Washington on October 30, 1906. His painting style developed in his youth in Montana and San Francisco. Upon moving to Seattle in the 1930’s, he married Margaret Bundy who was editor of the Town Crier. He worked as curator of the Seattle Art Museum in its early days in Volunteer Park. Callahan died in Seattle, Washington on May 8th, 1986. He was one of the four painters LIFE magazine described as "Northwest Mystics". The others were Guy Anderson, Morris Graves and Mark Tobey.
