THE FACETED GLASS FACADE. Taking the official theme of Christian Witness in Century 21, Inc., "Jesus Christ--the Same, Yesterday, Today, and Forever," the artist has created an abstract design suggesting the continuity of the biblical emphases of creation, redemption, and consummation -- an inexorable flowing from the past through the present and into the future. At the center is the cross, historic symbol of the Christian faith. A single color, red, is symbolic of Christ, moving uniterrupted through the entire facade. The 4,385 pieces of Blenko faceted glass, one inch thick in forty colors, are bonded together with epoxy resin covered with marble chips. The window was contributed by the Stained Glass Association of America as an example of a relatively new ecclesiastical art medium produced in America by American craftsmen from American materials. The design was selected after a competition among forty member studios. It was fabricated by Winterich and Associates of Cleveland. Eleven men worked three months to complete the window. The designer is D. Erik Erikson, Jr.
