About this collection
The University District Oral History Project Collection consists of oral history interviews conducted by students in the University of Washington Museology Graduate Program. This collection was created through collaboration of University of Washington's Museology Program and Information School, Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI), University District Museum without Walls (UDMWW), and The Seattle Public Library.
The narrators of all included interviews live and/or work in the University District and reflect upon issues relating to the community: its people, development, and history. Each provides a unique viewpoint of life on "The Ave"—as University Way NE is commonly known—and reflects a rich local history of one of Seattle's most distinctive neighborhoods.
All interviews were conducted, transcribed, and submitted with supplemental materials to The Seattle Public Library winter/spring 2011.
