April 21, 1982 will mark the 20th Birthday of Seattle's Century 21
Exposition, regarded by many as one of the most successful in the
colorful history of World Expositions that span seme 130 years.
Our Fair was the fruition of a shared dream. The combined efforts
and energies of craittainity, corporate and political leaders was unparalleled in contemporary Seattle history. The success of the
Fair thrust Seattle in the forefront of American cities. The Fair
was Seattle's 20th Century exxrnence^ent, and a model of extraordinary
urban volunteerism.
The Fair left Seattle with a tremendous legacy. Citizens who knew
firsthand what they could do for a corrmon purpose and an urban park
with boundless potential. And this legacy has .paid high dividends.
It has become a regional center for the arts. It is the Northwest's
primary convention site. It serves a multitude of leisure time needs
for millions of people annually.
